3/31/19 Pop Up on Maine Art Hill (Weekly Shows)

Weekly Space Rental / Juried Submissions to take place 5/21/19 – 8/31/19

Pop Up on Maine Art Hill is a gallery/retail venue in Kennebunk rented weekly by guest artists and artisans. Maine Art Hill offers this to help create a vibrant, ever-changing atmosphere and make new connections between artists, artisans, and clients. Situated just steps from our 2 main gallery spaces, all on Chase Hill Rd, the addition of the ever changing Pop Up Gallery has turned this small street into an “art destination” right in the heart of Kennebunk Lower Village.

We are just wrapping up Pop Up’s first season with over 20 shows exhibiting over 40 artists; it was really amazing to watch each artist/gallerist transform the space with their works each week. We are now looking for artists and artisans for our Spring/Summer 2019 schedule of shows.

4/1/2019 Haystack 2019 Summer Workshop Sessions

Craft Workshops to take place 6/9/19 – 8/31/19

Haystack’s core summer workshops include one- and two-week sessions in blacksmithing, clay, fiber, glass, graphics, metals, and wood. Workshops are open to adults 18 years or older of all skill levels – from beginners to advanced professionals. Studios are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with classes scheduled Monday through Friday. The Haystack community is made up of approximately 85 participants, including staff, students, and internationally known faculty artists. Instructors determine the format of their workshops.

Join us in Freeport, one of Maine’s top visitor destinations for a three-day art and music festival. With over three million visitors each year, the L.L.Bean campus attracts more shoppers to its flagship location than any other destination in Maine.

3/1/2019 Haystack 2019 Open Studio Residency

Open Studio Residency to take place 5/26/19 – 6/7/19

“Haystack’s Open Studio Residency fosters a dynamic exchange of ideas among peers and provides two weeks of studio time and an opportunity to work in a supportive community of makers and those selected attend for free. The program supports approximately 50 participants—from the craft field and other creative disciplines—who have uninterrupted time to work in six studios (ceramics, fiber, graphics, iron, jewelry, and wood) to develop ideas and experiment in various media. Participants can choose to work in one particular studio or move among them depending on the nature of their work. All of the studios are staffed by technicians who can assist with projects.
The Haystack Fab Lab will also be open, providing an opportunity for experimentation with digital fabrication as a way for residents to augment and complement their creative practices. In addition to open studios, there will be time for participants to share work and discuss ideas across disciplines. Residents include established and emerging artists working in a range of visual art and craft media.”
