Decal Collage on Pottery with Mary Kay Spencer
February 25, 2018
1pm – 3pm
Mary Kay Spencer Studio
82 Stevenstown Road Litchfield, Maine
$50 per student – Includes all materials.
Mary has been a potter for over 30 years. She primarily makes production and functional ware pottery. She began self teaching the art of making decals to fire on her work 5 years ago. She uses original art work to enhance public graphics.
Hands on Technique
Make and apply laser printed decals of artwork, graphic images, or photo. Simply apply onto a finished piece of pottery and fire on. Mary Kay has a large selection of printed decals ready to use. Glaze pottery pieces will be provided. There will be a variety of work to choose from — mugs, bowls, tumblers. Each student will be allowed 2 small pieces or one large piece. Additional pieces can be purchased.
A potter may bring a few of their own pieces to add decals to, however, the cost of the workshop will be same. Warning that untested glazes in this process may result in glaze bubbling or changing color on 3rd firing. Not all glazes like this process.
For custom decals, please add photos/artwork to a thumbdrive prior to the workshop and email them to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 20th. Black and white photos work best.
