Misha Oraa Ali’s work is inspired by the intersection of science and art – which are often, strangely, seen in opposition to each other. Artists must rigorously test different methods, compositions and materials to create their work, while scientists must be creative to achieve progress and make significant discoveries. Currently, they are working on a series of ceramic sculptures with the goal of creating artificial reef structures from sustainable materials to rehabilitate marine habitats suffering from coral bleaching events.

Misha’s artwork and scientific work has been globally well received. Their visual art has been exhibited across the USA, Italy, Turkey, and India. As an illustrator, they have created visual stimuli for research at Harvard, MIT, University of California Merced, and University of Edinburgh. Their scientific research has been published in journals such as Cognition, the Journal of Language and Memory and Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts. Misha received bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavior, and Graphic Narrative and Visual Storytelling from Mount Holyoke College. They are currently finishing a graduate degree in Cognitive Science at Brown University.
