About
Peter’s striking one-of-a-kind whale carvings add enduring character to vacation homes, restaurants and taverns, and everyday living rooms, dining rooms, and kitchens — any place people gather to enjoy the pleasures of life.
After a successful career as an award-winning graphic designer and creative services director, Peter is now focused on his lifelong love for making things with his hands. He began Nutmegger Workshop by making period-style sign art and has earned a worldwide following for his original typographic designs and weathered finishes. After carving his first sperm whale, he fell in love with the creative process all over again and has been carving whales ever since. It’s Peter’s hope that people will notice something special about his work from the moment they see it.
Peter is a native New Englander who falls under the spell of anything seaside, nautical, or antique. He and his wife Julie, an award-winning bowl-turner and MCA member, share their small home workshop in Harpswell.
