Years of Art teaching K-12 has profoundly influenced my ideas in clay. I identify with the curiosity and enthusiasm of children creating in a common space. It’s that energy that fills me up and has provided my own motivation for creating in clay. Basically a self taught potter, I believe in always learning and sharing. I work in limited editions or series that change with time and experience in the clay medium. This way of working seems to satisfy my “terminal curiosity.” My work is functional, durable stoneware and porcelain which is fired in my gas reduction kiln to cone 10, (2300 F). The mystery of the fire in a fuel burning kiln offers constant challenge as nothing is guaranteed.
