About
Diane Harwood is the creative artist behind d.harwood Pottery’s beautiful array of decorative and functional ceramic wares. Inspired by a childhood love for playing in the muddy clay near her home, and a keen eye for the patterns and designs found in nature, Diane creates a longing and nostalgia for a time gone by. Each piece is individually hand-built, embossed with unique antique and retro patterns and glazed from a palette of gentle colors and oxides for a vintage patina. What emerges from the kiln are pieces that feel strangely familiar, as if you had found your grandmother’s most treasured cup or bowl that had been missing.
Diane has been rewarded for her work. She was voted the best gift award at the 2016 Maine Giftware and Specialty Food Show. This award was decided by over 2000 attendees and she received a $500 check for first place! She also won first place at the Winthrop art show the last time she attended. She was honored by Pottery Barn as she was asked to display her wares in the South Portland Pottery Barn store for a weekend.
From her small-town studio on Main Street in Winthrop, Maine, Diane shapes each piece as a quiet celebration of handmade art, heartfelt living, and the lasting beauty of simple things.
