About
The jewelry we create has its roots in the rich tradition of craftsmanship in Maine.

For many years we hand crafted baskets, beginning with finding the tree to the finished basket using the tools and methods of the Maine woodsmen, Shakers, and Native American basketmakers.

We began to work in metal by forging tiny buckles for miniature baskets. We learned that we could draw gold and silver into fine strands of wire and weave it into tiny baskets of gold.

Our jewelry is influenced by basket designs and the craftsmanship of years gone by. A round basket bottom's radiating weave suggested the sunburst series of earrings and necklaces. The twelve strand weave is reminiscent of the braided reins Tamberlaine used to make for her horses. The hand forged facets from hammer blows recall her grandfather's forge at his farm in Maine.

Every piece we create is hand fabricated. Gold or platinum is melted, poured into an ingot. then forged, rolled, and drawn into fine wire. Uprights are shaped and the edges bright cut to allow light to reflect from within the piece. Fine, pliant strands of 22k gold or platinum are interwoven into a basket form. 18k gold or platinum is forged to strengthen it and shaped into rims, backs and settings.

Together, we are the only ones who work on the jewelry. Each piece is made by hand - one at a time.S
