About
I was born and raised in Portland, Maine. Growing up, I was influenced and encouraged by my mother, aunts, and grandmother – all makers in a variety of traditional crafts. As a result, I have always been intrigued by things made by hand, and learning how to make them.

While I have been a maker for all of my life, I began making jewelry using found objects about 16 years ago. Those early pieces were assembled with cold connections including tab settings, wire wrapping, prongs, and rivets.

With no formal art education, my curiosity and desire to learn and perfect new techniques led me to a variety of workshops: PMC certification and lost wax casting with J Fred Woell, found object and assembling with cold connections with Bob Ebendorf at Haystack, liquid enamels on steel with Elizabeth Turrell at Haystack, and narrative jewelry with Sarah Doremus at Penland School of Crafts.

Since 2021 I have taken multiple Zoom workshops taught by Maia Leppo and Bette Barnett in all aspects of creating jewelry with steel, including adding precious metals to steel. I have fallen in love with working with steel. Creating beautiful surfaces with etched textures and fused precious metals (gold, silver, white bronze) elevates the humble material to a whole new level. As I experimented on a small scale with gold, I found that steel and gold make a beautiful contrast, and bring another wonderful dimension to my work.

Each workshop has taught me new skills, given me more confidence in my abilities, and elevated the quality of my finished jewelry.
