I grew up in the Midwest but have made my home in Maine for over forty years. My adventures in visual art began a little over a decade ago when I taught myself to create mandalas and other symmetrical designs from my nature photos. I was immediately captivated by the process, which I take step by step; I do not use programs that generate designs. I produce my own cards, and I also print my mandalas on inkjet cotton cloth for small fabric crafts. Many of my photos are taken in and around Hallowell, where I live, and in the Sebago area, where my husband and I have a seasonal cabin. Overall my work is about paying attention to the natural world. I am always looking for interesting details of color, light, and shape to play with as I create my mandalas.
