Audra Christie is a fiber artist and arts educator based in rural Downeast Maine, where landscape, labor, and community shape her work. Under Rocky Hill Hats, she creates one-of-a-kind felt hats using wool from her own sheep and other thoughtfully sourced fibers. Her hats are rooted in traditional hat shapes designed for function, durability, and everyday wear, and reflect the hard-working people and practical rhythms of rural Maine.
Audra’s broader fiber practice includes felted, woven, and textile-based works that explore material, process, and place. Her studio practice is deeply connected to social and public engagement through the fiber arts, including organizing community-based making experiences. As a high school art teacher, she brings an educator’s mindset to her work, valuing craftsmanship, experimentation, and slow, sustainable processes. Her work honors fiber traditions while emphasizing the connection between maker, material, and community.
