About the Artist

Gordo Glass
Kittery, ME

Lee Gordon has been blowing glass for over 10 years, continually challenging himself physically and creatively to create new and original pieces.  Lee says that when he discovered his current medium, he immediately knew that this was what he wanted to pursue. “I found glass at a time when I needed that challenge and stimulation, and I was able to stay committed to it. The possibilities are literally endless in-studio glass-making. I’m extremely self-motivated in learning new techniques, pushing myself to excel, and letting the skills build on each other to create new and interesting art.”

Lee says that creating and explicitly working with glass has taught him that he is “process driven” and that the end result of his pieces are derived from the strenuous methods of glass blowing and the joy he gets from creating blown glass.  His current work has focused on translating textures and patterns of coastal landscapes and nature into glass. “I like to make pieces that could fit outside and look natural in a landscape.”
