Gold Leaf Goblet

“The Joseph Webster Glass stemware submitted to The Holy Grail exhibition were created in a modern interpretation of traditional Venetian glassblowing techniques and artforms. This artform dates back to 15th century Italian glassblowing. This exercise is considered the highest level of work a glass artist can produce, resulting in elegant works of art that can be used in everyday life, for special occasions and artwork display.  Elegant, yet functional, these vessels would have been considered the Holy Grail of 15th century Venetian Glass, coveted and collected by monarchs and the elite class.”

This piece is currently on display at Maine Craft Portland as part of the special exhibition, “The Holy Grail: Miraculous Items of Power“.
