About the Artist
Jean Ann Pollard was born in Waterville, Maine and grew up in Winslow, Maine. She graduated as an Art major from Boston University and later studied biology and geology at Colby College in Waterville. She has lived and worked in North Africa, California, and the Bahamas. In addition to her six published books, her art work has been widely exhibited, she has illustrated numerous books, articles, and stories, and her award-winning short stories, poetry, and non-fiction have appeared in many literary journals, anthologies, magazines, and newspapers. She and her husband ran an organically certified CSA for ten years in Winslow. Community-supported agriculture (CSA) is a food production and distribution system that directly connects farmers and consumers. Consumers buy “shares” in a farm’s harvest in advance.
