Walnut Ikebana Tray | North Cove Design

In ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, blossoms, branches, leaves, and stems find new life as materials for artmaking. In contrast to the Western practice of placing flowers in a vase or vessel, ikebana aims to bring out the inner qualities of flowers and other live materials and express emotion.

This contemporary Shaker-inspired tray is a New England take on this Eastern tradition and would compliment many styles of modern decor.  Tray includes three black river stones for aesthetic balance, and they may vary in shape.

This piece is currently at Maine Craft Portland.
