Stuart’s lighting features hand painted silk shades and various base options from steel to wooden hand made buoys.

The silk for the shades is painted with hand mixed dyes and applied with brushes. The steel base is finished with a copper patina and clear coated for its protection. What you’re not able to see in an image is how beautiful the shade is when fully lighted, especially in the evening. All lamps have rubber feet to protect your fine furniture. All you may have to do to clean the lamp is to use a soft duster. Since each batch of dye will be slightly different, you will have to order a pair at the same time. All lamps are fabricated according to UL specifications.

Jon White of South Portland, Maine, creates both traditional lamps and illuminated sculptures reminiscent of industrial mills and furnaces he has visited across the country.

Jon hand builds or throws each piece depending upon its scale and form. He seeks a harmony between function and ornament to transform the vessel into a sculptural object. Using a variety of textured earthenware glazes, Jon fires each piece multiple times. The combination of glazes and multiple firings makes each vessel unique.
