Hello everyone! My name is Derek Roberts. I’m a wood turner from New Hampshire and I wanted to let you know about something I’ve made that is not actually wood. It’s an online platform to help artisans like you sell your work.  I was selling my work on a well-known online marketplace and began to dislike its corporate direction. I looked into building my own site, but after talking to other makers who shared similar online experiences, I realized a shared space was a better answer than another lone storefront.

That’s how Artyssn came about— a marketplace built specifically for independent artists, with a flat 15% fee on completed sales and nothing else: no listing fees, no monthly subscription. I also built what I’ve called a Story Library, allowing artists to easily create multimedia posts so a piece can carry its story—the materials, the process, what led you there and so on.

I also developed digital assistants to help you quickly create new listings and built photo editing tools and a video trimmer directly into the listing process to speed up their creation.

Looking for young-at-heart artisans and crafters who would like to help create fairy-themed items using a wide variety of natural materials.  Items range from larger-scale to smaller, detailed items. Everything from fairy houses to many other whimsical details that bring fairy worlds to life is needed.  The items will be staged and photographed in natural areas for a book that will be published next year.

The book shows 15 different fairy types based primarily on the habitats they live in — for example, ocean shores, forests, meadows, trees, flower gardens, moss, and more.  There are also snow fairies, wind fairies, feather fairies, etc.

The goal is to create an enchanting book experience for all ages that also showcases Maine’s natural beauty and creative community of crafters.

Payment for items will vary by level of detail needed. All crafters will be credited in the book.

The Hive Gallery, a curated Maine art collective at Maine Art Hill in Kennebunk, is looking for a local Maine artist to join our creative community as a working studio artist.

We have a unique opportunity for an artist to maintain a dedicated working studio on the second floor of The Hive, directly above our gallery space featuring a curated selection of Maine artists.

The studio is intentionally part of the gallery experience. While the upstairs studio is not open to the public, it overlooks the gallery through an open spiral staircase, allowing visitors to catch glimpses of the artist at work from below—and hear the creative activity happening upstairs. It’s a subtle but memorable way to bring the process of making art into the gallery experience.

Propanels for a standard 10×10 art show booth. These are the light tan, six foot panels, 9 total, plus all the fittings. These are perfect for hanging artwork. Because I’m a blacksmith, I built ladder racks, shelves, and overhead light bars, all powder coated “silver vein” to match the panels. Pictures show my booth setup; though the propanels can be configured to fit the space you are given. Six ladder racks, 12 shelves. The shelves are Baltic birch, a special laminated wood product sufficient to hold all my heavy metalwork. I can sell the entire setup, or separate the panels from the ladders/shelves.

About Us – Maine Flag Company is Maine’s only nautical flagmaker and the only producer of the original 1901 Maine flag, made entirely in Maine. We’re a small, tight-knit team doing work we’re genuinely proud of — and we’re looking for someone who shares that pride to join us on the production floor.

The Role – A hands-on position for someone who knows their way around a commercial laser cutter and wants to put that experience to work cutting fabric for a made-in-Maine product. You’ll operate our large-format industrial laser cutter daily, working closely with the rest of our small production team. We’ll train you on our specific machine — what we need is someone who already speaks the language.

What You’ll Do

• Set up, operate, and monitor the industrial laser cutter for daily fabric cutting
• Load and position fabric to ensure accurate cuts and minimize material waste
