HIRING

Laser Cutter Operator

Maine Flag Company is seeking a Laser Cutter Operator

About Us – Maine Flag Company is Maine’s only nautical flagmaker and the only producer of the original 1901 Maine flag, made entirely in Maine. We’re a small, tight-knit team doing work we’re genuinely proud of — and we’re looking for someone who shares that pride to join us on the production floor.

The Role – A hands-on position for someone who knows their way around a commercial laser cutter and wants to put that experience to work cutting fabric for a made-in-Maine product. You’ll operate our large-format industrial laser cutter daily, working closely with the rest of our small production team. We’ll train you on our specific machine — what we need is someone who already speaks the language.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up, operate, and monitor the industrial laser cutter for daily fabric cutting
  • Load and position fabric to ensure accurate cuts and minimize material waste
  • Adjust cutting parameters — speed, power, focus — to suit different fabrics and job specs
  • Perform routine inspections, basic maintenance, and machine cleaning
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor issues; escalate larger problems as needed
  • Maintain a safe, organized workstation and follow all laser safety protocols
  • Track output and flag quality or material issues to the production team

HIRING

Production Manager

Maine Flag Company is seeking a production manager.

About – Maine Flag Company is Maine’s only nautical flagmaker and the only producer of the original 1901 Maine flag, made entirely in Maine. We’re a small, tight-knit team doing work we’re genuinely proud of — and we’re looking for someone who feels the same way to lead our production operations.

The Role – A hands-on leadership position for a skilled sewist who’s also a strong organizer and communicator. You’ll oversee daily production, manage a small team, and keep projects moving from raw materials to finished product, reporting directly to the President & CEO and largely running the shop independently.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate a variety of commercial and industrial sewing machines and laser cutters
  • Apply core techniques including hems, appliqué, double-needle and zigzag
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Estimate and plan workload across multiple concurrent projects
  • Supervise and support 1–2 production staff
  • Monitor inventory and place reorders for raw materials and finished goods
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with ownership on production status
