Instructor Bio:

Nick operates Nick Rossi Knives out of his Vassalboro studio, where he creates dynamic, world-class cutlery for almost every purpose. Nick is influenced by fine art, traditional blacksmithing, and early industrial techniques. Nick teaches blacksmithing and bladesmithing at Colby College, hosts private lessons in his studio, and travels the country teaching bladesmithing at the finest craft schools.


Workshop Description:

In this introductory class students will complete a simple paring knife. All aspects of Knifemaking will be covered, including forging, basic metallurgy, handle making, and sharpening. The goal will be for each student to leave with a razor-sharp, high-performance knife ready for the kitchen. This workshop will take place at Nick’s studio in Vassalboro.


Materials Provided by Instructor:

  • Steel
  • Handle Material
  • Breakfast, snacks, and coffee provided along with lunch

Student Supplied Materials:

  • Leather Topped Shoes
  • Long Pants
  • Natural Fiber

Fee:

$600 per person.


Cancellations:

The payment is 50% refundable in the event you have to cancel, as long as the cancellation is made 21 days before the trip. After that time, your payment is non-refundable. Alternately, 100% of your payment will be refunded if a replacement can be found prior to the trip.

This workshop needs a minimum of two participants. In the event the minimum is not met, we may cancel or offer to move you to a different workshop.
