Hanky Panky: Screenprinting on Fabric Squares

Class Description:

Print your own handkerchiefs, bandanas, and fabric in this workshop. Participants will learn the process of screen printing on cotton fabric using photo emulsion and water based fabric inks. We will focus on creating images by hand (i.e. no computers!) by drawing, painting, paper cutting, and/or using found objects. We will also go over basic pattern design methods. Participants will come away with screenprinting skills and a multitude of printed squares.

Materials + Fees: $50

Students will be charged a materials fee when invoiced for the weekend (after registration). Closer to the workshop date, participants will receive a materials list and will be required to bring the items with them. Items will include things like scissors, mat knives, rulers, etc.

About the Instructor-

Pilar Nadal is the established Printer and Director of Pickwick Independent Press in Portland, Maine. For the last 10 years, She has been printing on hankies, bandanas and fabric to explore color, shape, pattern and function. Pilar currently teaches printmaking through Pickwick as well as the Southern Maine Community College.
