Have a Seat @ The Center for Maine Craft

On view July 1 – August 31, 2020

The tradition of fine furniture craftsmanship runs as deeply in Maine as its rivers, and as wide as its bays, created with elements of and from its expansive, natural splendor. Maine Crafts Association is proud to present a collection of some of the finest handcrafted chairs and seating from craft artists within our organization in the summer exhibition “Have A Seat”, on view through August 2020 at the Center for Maine Craft.

The group exhibition features exquisite chairs and seating from Charlett Woodworking of New Gloucester, D. H. Masury of Kittery Point, Locust Grove Woodworks of Thorndike, Shannon Richards of Portland, and W. A. Mitchell of Farmington.

The fine furnishings are accompanied by ceramic chair sculptures by Vicki Fox of South Portland, as well as complementary pieces from Ember Grove, Addie Peet, Dereck Glaser, Rebecca Goodale, and American Furniture Masters Institute.

From traditional Mission and Shaker inspired furnishings to contemporary designs, “Have A Seat” showcases the remarkable breadth and scope of Maine furniture craft, and that of the makers as well.

Open hours to view this exhibition at the Center for Maine Craft are at least 10pm-5pm Monday through Saturday and will increase over the summer. Many other hours and private shopping are available by appointment. During your visit, please wear a mask + social distance. We will provide hand sanitizer and a clean safe space!
