Emma Garcelon is a Portland based designer, artist, photographer, web designer, printmaker, business owner and more. Passionate about community and small businesses, Emma dedicates her time serving her community through her craft – whether it’s producing home goods in her thriving printmaking shop that you will love for the next decade or capturing your store’s product photography so you can shine online; she does it all. By capturing minimal product shots, in-situation lifestyle images, and behind-the-scenes process shots Emma shares the process of handmade products and the people behind them.
As someone also behind the scenes of her own craft, Emma recognizes the importance of storytelling. With a clean and bright aesthetic Emma is often inspired to pull her work back into nature where she first found inspiration. Building forts, looking for seaglass and exploring the forest, mounts and rocky beaches – Emma has found through her formative years that nature grounds her, fills her with calm, inspiring her to create. After discovering printmaking as a way of channeling this love of the outdoors, Emma’s team and herself at Woodnote create small batch goods that bring moments of joy to everyday life by being both artfully designed and functional. Their patterns are designed with a sustainable mindset and production includes natural organic cotton hand printed with water based inks. Her recognizable patterns take the form of tea towels, cards, napkins, stickers and more. When she is not busy sharing her skills, you can find Emma cooking, playing with her cat, exploring the rocky coast for inspiration and playing great board games with friends.
