#MakeItBlue: Indigo Dyeing Activity @ STITCH: Maine Designers on the Runway

POSTPONED! #makeitblue to be held at Ketcha Outdoors during the 2021 Guild Fine Craft Show: Scarborough

WHEN:
New dates! September 18th + 19th 2021
11am – 3pm (both days)

WHERE:
Ketcha Outdoors: 336 Black Point Road, Scarborough, ME

ABOUT:
We all have that favorite article of clothing that’s been stained, spilled on, or become dingy over the years – but don’t be blue, now is your chance to give it some love and a second life in your closet.. enter Make It Blue.

Join us for a fun afternoon of over-dyeing in the sunshine before STITCH: Maine Designers on the Runway, and participate in one of fashions’ biggest trends right now – sustainability!

So don’t throw it away, throw it in a vat! Update your wardrobe, kitchen linens, favorite tote bag or textile in need. Think old t-shirts, shorts, dresses, napkins, table runners, pillow cases – you name it. Don’t like the current color? Over-dye it! Even if it’s new and you just want it to be blue…

LOGISTICS:
Our dye experts will be on site guiding the way and offering Shibori (Japanese folding + resist technique) demonstrations and general instructions on how to dye with an Indigo vat. Come watch, learn or DIY!

We will provide gloves, rubber bands, clothespins and other mark-making materials to achieve beautiful Shibori patterns, or you can simply dye your item a solid Indigo hue. We will have plain white silk scarves available for purchase on site.

If you are bringing your own item to over-dye, keep in mind natural fibers will dye best. (Cotton, wool, linen + silk all work great).
Please bring a plastic bag with you to take home your freshly dyed goods in, as they may still be a little wet.

Bring your own item to dye: $5
Buy one of our silk scarves to dye: $10

*If bringing your own items to dye, nothing larger than 60” square, please!
