Maine Crafts Association Welcomes New Board Member Betsy Scheintaub and Thanks Outgoing Member Katie Capozza

Maine Craft Association’s board of directors is proud to welcome Betsy Scheintaub as its newest member. After volunteering in an advisory capacity on MCA’s fundraising committee, it was clear that Betsy was dedicated to the organization and that she would bring programming expertise to the board that will help in the ongoing growth of the 40-year old organization.

Betsy is an educator, garment designer, fiber artist, and business owner. She has a BFA in Fiber Arts from the University of Oregon and ten years experience working in costumes for opera, ballet, and theater. As an independent designer, she has designed garments for production as well as a line of handbags and accessories under the label Bobbin.

Since 2014, Betsy has been an adjunct professor in the Textile and Fashion Design department of Maine College of Art & Design. Through classes in 3D materiality, weaving, and garment design, she teaches appreciation of materials, fine craftsmanship, and an exploration of textile techniques.
