Whimsy, Wonder, and the Joy of Handmade

Kerry Goulder, the designer and maker behind Kid Giddy, has spent just over a decade bringing delight to the world of sewing with her playful quilt patterns and whimsical soft toy designs. What began as a creative outlet while raising her two daughters in Maine has evolved into a beloved brand, inspiring makers of all ages to stitch with joy, curiosity, and confidence. However, over the last four years, Kerry has spent most of her time achieving a different longtime goal of hers: Graduating from MECA&D with a degree in Textile & Fashion Design.

Kerry’s journey into design started with a love of storytelling and an eye for detail. Her signature softies—charming characters brought to life with fabric and thread—blend narrative, craftsmanship, and technical ingenuity. Whether it’s a fox in overalls or a perfectly paper pieced quilt project, her designs reflect her belief that every stitch can tell a story.

Through her Kid Giddy brand, Kerry has authored a book, collaborated with various designers, quilt industry companies, and contributed to major publications in the sewing and quilting world. Her patterns are celebrated for their thoughtful construction and approachable style—inviting even novice sewists to create something truly magical. Her work has been showcased at Quilt Market and featured as QuiltCon workshops, and classes around the country.

At STITCH 2025, Kerry will share her debut collection, “Seeking Closure” which features a series of six garments with oversized sewing “closures” and plush accessory elements that was part of her senior thesis collection. Inspired by the large-scale soft sculpture work of Claes Oldenburg and Flavor Flav’s clock necklaces, Kerry created these closure elements on a larger scale to visually communicate learning and growth. Channeling the deep symbolism in Dutch still-life paintings, these closure elements, gridwork, stripes and other features, act as secret codes that tells her story and represents various moments in her life, including the first time she attended college thirty three years ago, her previous career in the fashion industry, and sewing pattern company, Kid Giddy(™).

Based in Southern Maine, Kerry remains deeply rooted in her local community, where she continues to dream up new designs, teach, and foster creativity in others. Kid Giddy isn’t just a brand—it’s a world of imagination where hand-sewn characters come to life, and where makers of all skill levels are invited to play, experiment, and express themselves while making memories.

We’re thrilled to feature Kerry Goulder at STITCH 2025 as we celebrate Maine’s vibrant maker community and the designers who remind us of the power of handmade.

Join us at STITCH to hear from Kerry and discover how storytelling, design, and craft can come together—one stitch at a time.
