Whitney GillManager, Center for Maine Craft

In early years, Whitney studied with an artist in rural Fayette, Maine who taught her the beauty of many crafts, including sewing, needle felting, sculpting, painting and drawing.

She hasn’t settled on a single craft since! Whitney continues to paint, play music and make jewelry in her home studio in Portland, Maine and makes pottery with local artists under the name Alley Cat Studio.

The study of multiple mediums has given Whitney a true appreciation for the incredible craftsmanship of Maine artists and members of the MCA.
